UK police charge two teenagers with right-wing terror offences

UK Police: At their Friday court appearance in London, two adolescents who are accused of committing extreme right-wing terror acts will be facing “extremely serious charges,” according to police.

During a “proactive investigation,” the Counter Terrorism Command section of the Metropolitan Police (the Met) charged a 19-year-old woman and an 18-year-old male on Thursday.

The 2006 Terrorism Act was broken, according to the charges against Rex William Henry Clark of Ilford, east London.

In Cheshunt, north of London, police have charged Sofija Vinogradova with two charges of gathering information that might be helpful to someone planning or carrying out a terrorist act, as well as preparation of terrorist activities.

Present in Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, both are being held awaiting their appearance. “Suspected extreme right-wing terrorist activity” is the subject of the inquiry, according to police.

Head of the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command Commander Dominic Murphy said, “These are extremely serious charges, but I would urge the public to not speculate about this case any further at this time and allow the criminal justice process to run its course unimpeded.”

Although our investigation is still ongoing, he said, “I want to reassure the public that at this time we do not believe that there is any wider threat related to this investigation.”

In the wake of three girls being stabbed at a dancing lesson in Southport, northwest England, far-right protests have erupted across Ireland and England.

“The investigation was not prompted by the nationwide disturbance that followed the horrific events in Southport,” according to Murphy. In the beginning, on August 4, police detained the lady on suspicion of having a gun.

On 10 August, she was detained again after being granted bail. Both of them were transferred to a police station in London after the 18-year-old male was also detained at the same residence.
