On Monday afternoon, there was a recorded earthquake in the Barstow region northeast of Los Angeles with a magnitude of 4.9 and at least two aftershocks.
In the Mojave Desert of San Bernardino County, there were aftershocks of magnitudes 3.5 and 2.8. The USGS website states that in addition to other places, people felt shaking in Universal City, Claremont, Los Angeles, Pasadena, Glendale, Chatsworth, Granada Hills, and Chino.
Crossing the desert, the Calico Fault is the earthquake fault closest to the epicentre.
Damage reports did not surface right away.
North of Los Angeles, by around 100 miles, lies Barstow.
